About KY Fair Racing
The 2008 fair schedule will include all the fairs that raced in 2007 for a total of 9 fairs . Woodford opens the circuit at the Red Mile on the Sunday before Memorial Day May, 25th.  Mayfield follows on May 31st. and June 1st.. LaCenter will be next on June 7th.  Sturgis follows on June 14th.. Paducah will race Monday and Tuesday June 23rd. and 24th..  Lebanon will host racing on July 1st and 2nd.. Washington County at Lebanon will race on July 12th..  Thunder Ridge will follow on July 20th. Mercer County at the Red Mile will race on July 27th.  The finals will occur on Sunday, August 3rd. at the Red Mile.

PURSES FOR 2008 WILL REMAIN $5000 FOR CLASSES THAT DO NOT SPLIT.  CLASSES THAT SPLIT ONCE WILL RACE FOR $3000 AND CLASSES THAT SPLIT MORE THAN ONCE WILL RACE FOR $2000.

Finals purse will be $10,000 for the top 8 horses in points for each class, with classes for 2 year-old trotters and pacers and for 3 year-old trotters and pacers.  There are separate divisions for colts and fillies.

A new rule is now in effect  where by all horses must be either Ky. sired (must be registered with the Ky. Racing Authority in the year of conception) or the product of a mare that was at least partially owned by a Kentucky breeder at the time of conception as designated on the registration papers on the horse in question.
