2009 Dates Awarded
The Ky. Racing Horse Commision awarded dates for 2009 on Monday Octoberr 27th .

Bluegrass Downs will again race Thursday, Friday, and Saturday begining April 9th continuing thru May 16th. . Post times will be at 5:00 P.M. on Thursday & Friday and 1:00 P.M. on Saturdays.


Thunder Ridge will race Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday begining May 24th and continuing thru July 11th. Post time will be at 6:00 P,M. each race day

The Red Mile will race on Monday, Thursday and Sunday begining August 3rd and continuing thru September 24th. . Post time will be 6:30 on Monday, Thursday and Sunday. Grand Circuit racing will begin on Tuesday Sept. 29nd and continue thru Oct.10th. with racing Tuesday thru Satruday and a 12:30 post time.

About KY Fair Racing
The 2009 fair schedule will include all the fairs that raced in 2008 with the exception of Sturgis for a total of 8 fairs . .  Mayfield opens the circuit on May 26th. and 27tht.. LaCenter will be next on June 7th. Woodford at the Red Mile follows on the Sunday June 14th .. Paducah will race Monday and Tuesday June 22nd. and 23rd..  Lebanon will host racing on June 30th. and July 1st.. Washington County at Lebanon will race on July 11th..  Thunder Ridge will follow on July 18th.(tenative). Mercer County at the Red Mile will race on July 26th.  The finals will occur on Sunday, August 2nd. at the Red Mile.

PURSES FOR 2009 WILLBE $4000 FOR CLASSES THAT DO NOT SPLIT.  CLASSES THAT SPLIT ONCE WILL RACE FOR $2000 AND CLASSES THAT SPLIT MORE THAN ONCE WILL RACE FOR $1330.

Finals purse will be $7500 when only 3 horses enter and $500 will be added for each horse after that up to 8 for a totoal of $10,000 possible. Eligibility for the final is for the top 8 horses in points for each class, with classes for 2 year-old trotters and pacers and for 3 year-old trotters and pacers.  There are separate divisions for colts and fillies.

A new rule is now in effect  where by all horses must be either Ky. sired (must be registered with the Ky. Horse Racing Commission in the year of conception) or the product of a mare that was at least partially owned by a Kentucky breeder at the time of conception as designated on the registration papers on the horse in question.
